Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 Film Review

Everything must eventually end even the things that we love have to end sometime and that is also true for the Harry Potter films. As while Warner Bros tried and failed to launch a prequel spin-off series that fell of the rails in it's second film nothing really is going to beat the magic of the Harry Potter films and well they did start to come to end end with the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review that sees Harry , Ron and Hermione really embark on there toughest year ever with the film in question being called simply just "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Harry , Ron and Hermione start there quest to destroy all of Lord Voldemorts Horcrux's a quest which could cost them there lives. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. As while this films plot is pretty much all just set up for the second film this is something that dos make sense as there is no way that you could cut down the books plot and tell it in one film. With the plot of this film being what you get when you do split them as minus a few changes it is a mostly faithful plot with the films plot being about as good as it was ever going to be given the fact that it is just mostly set up and no pay off, this is also something that does hold the film back tho as it makes it feel incomplete at times when the focus should have been in making sure that this film tell as close to a full plot as they could have done without robbing us of a reason to have part 2 like for example they could have had the plot of this film be just about trying to destroy the one Horcrux that they already have as that would have told one complete story but for one reason or another the makers of the film don't do that and while the plot of this film isn't harmed by this in any it is something that does make you wonder why they didn't take this approach in the first place as while this films plot is still good you really can't escape the fact that is just set up for the next film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. All you have to do is just look at whom is starring in this film to see why the acting in it is as good as it is as nearly all of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors in there own right with them all brining there A game not only to this franchise but this film with this being something that really does elevate the films quality of acting as by all rights this films acting should have been pretty bad but due to the fact that everyone in the film is so committed to this franchise it does mean that we get some really good acting in the film. With the best actor in this film being Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort as he does get alot more screen time in this film and my god does he take full advantage of it as he is so menacing in all oof the scenes that he is in with him actually making Lord Voldemort a more creepy villain with this being something that he really didn't have to do and yet he went and he did it anyway as he makes someone who was already an irredeemable character even more loathed and despised just by the look that he gives Jason Isaacs with this being something that does come through in his final performance. With the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Moving Picture Company , Double Negative , Cinesite , Framestore , Baseblack , Rising Sun Pictures , RISE Visual Effects Studios and Gradient Effects. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Look to be frank this films CGI really is the best in the series even taking in the Fantastic Beasts into account as they do manage to blend in practical effects with CGI effects really well in this film even down to having small little details that you don't notice on a first viewing. Like for example in the scene where Dobby died on the beach while alot of us are looking at Dobby and rightfully so we are not looking at the fact that they added in his reflection in the sea which was a nice added touch that the makers of this film really didn't need to include as that shot isn't on screen for very long and isn't the focus of the shot Dobby himself is and yet the fact that they did that one tiny little thing it makes him more real and heck they even did the same thing with Nagini at the start of the film as they give her a slight reflection when she's slithering across the table at Malfoy manor and again it makes her feel all the more real and while the vast majority of this films CGI effects are just blasts from people's wands they do still really good with all of the bigger effects in the film looking good due to the fact that the makers oft his film wet that extra mile and added in those reflections when nobody would have been looking for them and heck in the case of Dobby as they even give him little footprints in the sand that is just such an insane amount of work for something that your not going to notice and it all serves to help sell you on the effect. 

This film is all about goodbyes both permanent and temporary as we see both Harry and Hermione say good bye to there loved with Harry just letting his aunt , uncle and cousin leave there house and Hermione wiping the memories of her parents so that it's if they never had her. That is just such a sad thing as it means that no matter if they won the war or not Hermine might never be able to to bring there memories back in the first place assuming she is able to find them at all with even Ron technically saying good bye to something in this film as he leaves his house not knowing if he's going to ever come back to it and his family ever again which granted in the grand scheme of things is pretty small scale but given the fact that his family are very good witched an wizards in there own right that's about as big of a risk that it is going to get for him in this film. With a good chunk of the good byes in the film even being permanent as both Mad Eye and Hedwig get killed off in the opening few minuets and Dobby gets killed of at the end of the film where there deaths serving the purpose of letting us know that not only can we expect alot of deaths in this final two part film but also the fact that alot of people of good people do die during a war and as much as we hate that fact it is something that we do have to put up with as this film is all about the start of the start of a new war with the deaths of both Hedwig and Mad Eye being really well done in there own right as even tho Mad Eye was a big side character in the films having him killed off of screen does still make it impactful with the best death in the film of course being the death of Dobby as it was such an emotional gut punch after having the the triumphant attack on Malfoy Manner just to reveal that actually the knife that Bellatrix threw not only made it through the spell but also killed a beloved character made it all the more heartbreaking with the final scene at the beach just being he icing on the cake.

Whilst it was the right move to make this film a two pater it does very sadly mean that this film does fall into the same pitfalls that all of part one films do fall into. As this film is nothing more then just set up for Part 2 granted it's very well done set up but it pays nothing of that it sets up in this very film as alot of the pay off happens in part 2 which does make this film kind of pointless to watch as even the opening for the next film is a just a recap of the ending of this film with there not really being a reason to watch this film unless you really wanted to see how this film final got started and while you really couldn't have done the book that this film is based on in one film as that mean cutting alot out of the there could have been more of an effort made to give this film a more complete ending irregardless of Part 2. While there are alot of things in this film that aren't paid off until the next film the same thing could also be said for Half Blood Prince which did set up something that wasn't payed off until this film and even then it sets up things that wouldn't get payed off until Part 2 as the makers of this film were planning that far ahead and knew that they had t set up certain things in advance and while having that sort of a plan is indeed great it doesn't mean that they had to make this film feel like an two hour and thirty minuet trailer for the next film as that's not only what they ended up doing its what they still do in two part films today with alot of them even ending the exact same way as this films does with the hero being defeated in someway shape or form and the villain being the winner granted this is to build up to the fact that the hero will eventually win but when you can see what is coming a mile away then that does mean that these film do need to change how they are handled.

We do actually get one of the more creepier scenes from the book in this film where Bellatrix tortures Hermione. Which fr obvious reasons is more toned down in the film as we don't get to see Bellatrix actually force Hermione to get the word Mudblood written into her arm we just the before where she starts to do it and then the after when it's happend and even so it is still a really effective scene as this is the only time that we have seen our heroes face real world danger as up until the last film they've always had the back of Dumbledor to back them up and now with him one the villains are free to be as evil as they want and part of that does include being more creepy and getting away with things that they wouldn't have been able to before because there's not one around now who can stop them. However even so it would would have worked just as well if the film did give us a more accurate version of that scene as it is one that does stick you but as for the fact that these films ae made for the general audience which does include kids and teenagers then alot of the more creepier elements of the scene would have had to have been dropped from the scene but even so the film does still does some really creepy scenes with the villains in it like for example the opening meeting scene with all of the Death Eaters that's a really a creepy scene as all if it is is the main villain telling them and by extension us the audience who he's captured and why he hates and yet because of the fact that Voldemort is made to be this really creepy character in this film they do go over the top with it and it oddly works, as while the death itself is pretty quick and painless the build to it is so good that it makes that scene feel like a scene from a horror film and not something that you'd either expect or didn't know that you wanted to see in a Harry Potter film with the fact that the villains do technically win in this film making those creepy scenes now aeem all the more creepy as now we the audience know that are characters are in deep danger.

Now then this film has / had an exactly grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty six minuets and five seconds. This is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for these films and to be this is a film that despite it being the first part of a two pater film really did need to be this long as the film itself does have alot of plot and characters to fit in all of which can't either be cut or trimmed down without doing harm to the story and with the makers of this film not being able to go with there usual method of just filming what harry sees it does mean that this film needs to have a longer running unless it would mean risking doing harm to the films overall plot with the film even having more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet even despite the fact that this film really can't develop it's plot the film still doesn't use it's running time all that wisely due to the fact that it doesn't take the time to develop it's plot which grated was always something that it could never be able to do due to the act that it's the first part of a two part but there still needed to be some small plot development there just for this films plot and not the plot of the two films as a whole with the makers of this film being more focused on giving us alot of scenes that are just there to set up things in the second film that it des mean that this films plot can't be that well developed in the first place. However tho oddly enough the film does take the time to fully develop at the very least one of it's character as the film film does give Ron of all people some small amount of character development as after the big fight with Harry Ron openly admits that the first thing he wanted to do was to come back to them and when he does it's him that battles his own inner demons and destroys the Horcrux which is something he would never have been able to do at the start of the film but i really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Whilst granted this films action can never be as good as the action in the second part just due to the fact that that film does have more action in it and this films action to comes down to who can point there stick at someone the hardest the fact does remain that we do still get alot of fun and exiting action scenes in this film alot of which do have moments in them that are quite emotional to watch. With the best action scene in this whole entire film being the escape from Privet Drive drive scene as while we don't get to see any cool moves are camera shots done in thar scene the whole thing is put together so well that the whole thing does work wit the fact that we get to see the death of Hedwig during the scene and the fact that Mad Eye dies during it being the thing that is the cherry on the cake for this scene and while it would have helped if we got something literally anything in that scene that made it more interesting and more entertaining it wasn't something that was needed as we would get all of that in the very next film with it therefor not really being needed in this film with the fact that this was the first action scene in the film it does make sense that the makers of this film would hold themselves back with the rest of this films action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst yes this film is pure set up for the next film it's se up is done so well that you do end up still enjoying this film and and whilst yes there are certain things in this film that could have been done alot more better when the film gets something done right it's really done right in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
