Ranking All Of The Harry Potter Films AND All Of The Fantastic Beasts Films From Worst To Best

Lovers of the Wizarding World we are of course mourning a lose of truly great actor right now and while it would have been super easy for me to review one of his Harry Potter films. I instead chose to go down a really different route one that is hopefully a little bit more fun and really should hopefully take your minds of the terrible tragic news that we all got really just a very few shorts days ago and so then join as I rank all of the Harry Potter film AND all of the Fantastic Beasts films from worst to best enjoy.

11) Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore

Yeah lets be real here we all knew that this film was going to be right at the bottom of this post as this film is just that bad. Ignoring all the drama that was surrounding both Johnny Depp and J.K. Rowling this film is just a mess on the most basic of levels with even the films title not even making as everybody knew what Dumbledore's secret was years before eve the first Fantastic Beasts film was even made which makes the whole plot just fall apart as the fact that Dumbledore and Grindelwald were once lovers is treated as this big reveal when it really shouldn't be as it's something that we already was a thing in the first place.

Acting wise and effects this f;m does far a little bit better with the film having some good acting and good effects. Both of those will mean nothing if the writing just isn't up scratch and sadly even wit the writing of returning Harry Potter film writer Steve Kloves co-writing the script with franchise creator and Fantastic Beasts films writer J.K. Rowling the writing just isn't that good and whole we will now most likely never get a conclusion to the story in the started in the first film considering just how bad this film is and how bad the Fantastic Beasts films were i'd happily not have an ending that suffer through several more bad films just to get an ending to a very underwhelming storyline.

10) Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Out of the two Fantastic Beasts sequels this one is easily the better of the two sequels that's not to say that this film is perfect because it's not. It's just that out of the two sequels this one is the lesser of the two evils as while this film does double down on issues present in the first film like alot of bad characterization and writing it does also fix at least one thing from the first film with the script for this film not being written like a novel and instead feeling more like a film script but with that said this film does have alot of it's own issues that really should have been addressed at the script writing stage but it wasn't and because of that the film and indeed this whole series of films really did suffer because of it which is shame because this film does have alot of good things going for it it's just surrounded by so many more bad things and not enough good things.

Chief amongst the issues with this film is the fact that this film messes around with the Harry Potter timeline. To the point where characters who wouldn't be where they are in this film are now suddenly there which to me just goes to show that makers of this film cared alot more about making as much money from the Harry Potter franchise and that they don't care about quality control and is something that only hits home further on the the next Fantastic Beasts film with this film not even taking the time to explore the wizarding world or even add new things to the wizarding world both of which would have been really fun things to have and to see.

9) Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

The last Fantastic Beasts film to be featured in this post and it's also the very first ever Fantastic Beasts film. One of the things that this film had going for it was the fact that it's script was being written by J.K. Rowling however that is also the films biggest flaw as she is used to writing novels and novel length scripts which is sadly what she does here she over explains things which is fine for novel as you have all the time you want in order to tell a story but in a film when you only have two to two and half hours you really do need to be more focused and your story and is sadly where this film starts to fall apart.

This is a film that really should have been a one and done as you don't really need sequels to finish of this story. As the story itself was pretty well finished by the end of this film and while this film does ave perhaps the least amount of issues especially when compared tot hose of the other Fantastic Beasts films alot of the issues in the other Fantastic Beasts films could also be traced back to this film with the weakly drawn out main characters who don't really have much in the way of personality to the villain who despite being a good villain just isn't given enough time in his skin to fully shine and just be as evil as he wants to be.

8) Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone

I will very much admit that this film is only placed here as it is the most basic Harry Potter film out there. As it just gives you everything that you expect from a Harry Potter film and really nothing new which is to be expected as it is the first film in the franchise but at the same time when there other things that do the things that this film does alot better it makes you wonder why this film got those elements pretty bad in the first place but I will give it credit for being the first film in what was at that point an unknown franchise and it's because of that that this film will always have a place in the hearts of many myself included.

For alot of the things that the film just doesn't get right like the CGI not really having aged all that well for example. It does get alot of things right like the casting for each of the characters not just our trio of heroes but every single character both main and minor is really spot on and because of that the acting in this film is also really good with even the child actors turning in some really performances and all of this is helped by the fact that director Chris Columbus really does know how to direct his child stars and he did by treating them as children first and because of that he really did get alot of great performance out of his cast.

7) Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

We should really call this film the one where Edward from Twilight dies and the fact that i'm opening with that should tell you that I really do enjoy this film. Despite my own personal enjoyment of the film I do have to admit that the film is fairly flawed with the film taking far to long to really get going and when it does get going there are far to many scenes that go nowhere and would have been better of if they weren't included in the final cut of the film as they add nothing to the overall plot of the film and are there just to pad this films running time which is a shame as when we do get a great or even funny scene you really do know it.

This film also introduces Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort and he really does just own every single scene that he's in. With this being due to the fact that not is Ralph Fiennes an incredible actor but also because of the fact that the character in this film is so well written that you truly believe that Lord Voldemort is this truly evil person who is beyond redemption and because Ralph just has alot of fun playing the character and it's something that shines through in all of his films as the character and when you add in the fact that this is a really fun film as well you can easily understand why alot of people really do like this film.

6) Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

This is a film that I don't really frequently watch with the same thing also being true for The Philosopher's Stone as well. However when I do come back to this film i'm reminded of just how much of an improvement that this film is over that first film not that they both don't have their merits to them because they do it's just that if push does come to shove i'd happily choose tom watch this film over The Philosopher's Stone as this film does a really good job of advancing the overall narrative as well as advancing the wizarding world by introducing us to things that we never got to see in the first film both of which are things that good sequels should indeed.

I will admit that as with the first film this film does have it's own fair share of faults to it like for example we don't get to see why the chamber is this big threat. Yes there's case for tell don't show but at the same time there's also a case for show don't tell and in this case showing us why the chamber is this big threat instead of just telling us it's a big threat would have worked well enough to this films advantage and yet it doesn't and that does for a large part of this film leave us with no villain which means that we are just looking at these characters just go about their day to day lives and there's only so long that you can see that before it starts to get dull and boring.

5) Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

This where we get into alot of the really good films with pretty much every film from here on out being really good. This is the film that proved that Harry Potter was more then just a film franchise for kids as it took on alot more of a mature tone and a more darker tone on top of that and it does it in such style that you really can't help but fall in love with the film with every single frame of this film just being stunning and gorgeous to look at and then you add in the fact that this first film to feature both David Thewlis and Gary Oldman to the franchise with their characters becoming mainstays from this film onward.

As much as I really do love this film I have to admit that there are some faults that are to be found in this film. Like for example the time travel element while i'm opposed to time travel heck one of my all time favorite movies is Back To The Future but once you introduce time travel into a franchise that didn't previously have it included it then has the knock on effect of robbing us of any tension and all it does is make me wonder why Harry didn't use the time turner to save Cedric in the Goblet Of Fire as it would have been really useful or why didn't he use it to go back in time and save his parents from dying as again it would have been really useful to use to save their lives and kill Voldemort back in the past and save himself all of the heartache that he goes through in the present timeline.

4) Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

The ending of this film due to recent events now has an even more sad ending to it I won't mention what events I mean as it's really obvious. I will say that as much flack as this film rightfully gets it still does a good job of basically acting like the first part in a three part finale with this film setting up somethings that will be payed of in the other two films and while getting some backstory on Severus Snape was nice it doesn't really add anything to the plot of this film and as such it would have been better if it wasn't included in the final cut of the film as all it does is feel like information that we don't really need.

If The Chamber Of Secrets had a large portion of it's running time of the characters just going about their day to day lives. Then this film takes that to the next level as their large portions of this films running time where nothing is happening to advance the overall plot and alot of those scenes are just the characters taking about whatever drama there involved with which us fine for a teen drama TV show but it's not something that you want or even expect to be in this franchise and because of this film does suffer because of it as all those scenes do is make the film feel boring and I get it that this is meant to be the calm before the storm but there still needs to be more exciting things as otherwise your audience will just be bust falling asleep.

3) Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Between this film and The Half-Blood Prince this one is easily the better of the two films for a number of reasons. The first of which being that it introduced to us to fan favorite character Luna Lovegood to is just a joy to watch in any of the films that the character appears in , the other thing being is that the writing and the acting among many other things is also really good with all of this films cast members turning so,e really solid performances with actors that you wouldn't expect a good performance really delivering in this film all of which help to make the film alot more fun and alot more enjoyable then what it is on paper.

This film also introduces Bellatrix Lestrange who is of course played by the talented Helena Bonham Carter. I really cannot give this film enough praise as it had so much enjoyable things in it but at the same time there are some faults with the film as well like the fact that Neville's character development really does come out of nowhere which is a shame as he is a really good character but as the films weren't exactly adapting the books page for page word for word it would have helped the film out quite a bit if they had started his character development even just a few films just so it doesn't across as being really jarring.

2) Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1

Here we are the first in the two part conclusion to the franchise that we all love and I have to say that I really did like this film. As it's so different from what came before it as with the previous we were always told that Hogwarts is no longer safe only for that not to be the case at all well in this film it really is the case with everything and pretty much everyone out to get our main heroes with their really being no where safe for them to go which means that anytime that they go into a new village or run into to some people it cold be that time that they finally get attacked and all of that really does add to the tension in this film.

This film does suffer alot from what all first parts in a two part film suffer from in that this film is basically a two and a half hour trailer for the next film. With this film rather rightfully setting up things that will be payed of in the next film which is great for the next film but it also doesn't give us much of a reason to go back and re-watch this film as  why would anyone want to watch something that I basically just a trailer for the next film when they can just go and watch the next film and when you add in the fact that not alot really happens plot wise it would be really understandable if people openly choose not to watch this film when there re-watching the entire franchise as their really no reason to do so.

1) Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

We have reached the end of this post with of course the best film in the franchise being the one that ended Harry's story in film. I cannot put it into words just how much I really do love this film as this film is just that good with it being a perfect send off to this truly iconic part of the franchise that really did define a generation and it's film that really did a good job of wrapping up not only the main storyline but also with wrapping up all of the main characters all of which are things that are great finale really should do and it's something that this film really does do all that well as this is great film to end Harry's story on.

With this film being the final film in the franchise you can't really expect every single character to make it out of the film alive. With it being those character deaths that really do hit home at just how much danger our main heroes and just how big the task is of finally killing Lord Voldemort once and for all which does make the film feel alot more like a war film less like a film about witches and wizards and when you add in the fact that pretty much everything about this film is as close to perfect as you can get it it really is no wonder that this film really is so well regarded within the halls of the Harry Potter fandom.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post from the official Harry Potter fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Harry Potter fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got and that currently up , featured and on the official Harry Potter fandom wiki page  are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition and there's only way that I can end this post and that's by saying rest in piece Sir Michael Gambon.
