Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire Film Review

Harry Potter is one of those very rare franchise where not only did the characters grow with the audience but so did the stories being told and the storytelling as well. As the films when from being very harmless kids films to being these very dark and very mature films by the time that they were done and finished with with the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today arguable being the film that helped to make the franchise as dark as it would eventually become and so then join me as I review the film that sees Harry Potter taking on The Doctor whilst also saving Batman with the film in question being called simply just "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when his name is chosen to take part in a very deadly competition Harry must somehow find a way to win to the competition whilst also dealing with the complexities of being a teenager. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the plot of this film is one that is a really good plot in it's own right but at the same time tho it's also one that's not really the strongest plot that the Harry Potter films had every had as it does feel like that this is a plot that could have been told in just a few scenes but was stretched out to a feature length running time as there are alot of pointless teen drama scenes in this film which granted they aren't as bad as the ones in Harry Potter And the Half Blood Prince but they still add nothing to this films plot and are really only there so that the film can remind us of the fact that the characters are now teenagers and that's really it as all of those scenes could have ever been cut out of the film entirely or trimmed down which would then allow for the film to have scenes that could have been used to strengthen it's plot as scenes like that in this film are when the film gets interesting and while the plot of this film is decent enough as it is it is one that could have been alot more better with it being made clear as day that this plot might have worked better in book format as it's one that doesn't work as well in a feature film format with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter  Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. Also starring in this film is Sir Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore , Dame Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagall , Alan Rickman as Severus Snape , Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid , Brendan Gleeson as Alastor Moody , Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick , David Bradley as Argus Filch , Shirley Henderson as Moaning Myrtle , Gary Oldman as Sirius Black , Mark Williams as Arthur Weasley , Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew , David Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr. , Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy , Ashley Artus as Walden Macnair , Paschal Friel as Nott , Tiana Benjamin as Angelina Johnson , Alfie Enoch as Dean Thomas , James Phelps as Fred Weasley , Oliver Phelps as George Weasley , Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley , Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom , William Melling as Nigel Wolpert , Shefali Chowdhury as Parvati Patil , Devon Murray as Seamus Finnigan , Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory , Louis Doyle as Ernie Macmillan , Charlotte Skeoch as Hannah Abbott , Katie Leung as Cho Chang , Afshan Azad as Padma Patil , Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Roger Davies , Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy , Josh Herdman as Gregory Goyle , Jamie Waylett as Vincent Crabbe , Frances De La Tour as Olympe Maxime , Clémence Poésy as Fleur Delacour , Angelica Mandy as Gabrielle Delacour , Robert Hardy as Cornelius Fudge , Roger Lloyd-Pack as Barty Crouch Sr. , Jeff Rawle as Amos Diggory , Margery Mason as Food Trolley Lady , Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter , Adrian Rawlins as James Potter , Geraldine Somerville as Lily Potter , Eric Sykes as Frank Bryce and Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that he actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which is something that really does make alot of sense given the fact that not only are all of this films actors a bunch of really good actors in their own right but also the fact that all of these films including all of the bad films have always had some really good acting in them in the first place with it being made crystal clear that as this is a more mature film then the acting that's in all of the other films with the actors in this film having some really dramatic and at time traumatic scenes to do in this film and they all do them beautifully with all of the returning actors having a really firm grip on just who there characters are with this being something that does help with their performances in this film and even Sir Michael Gambon does seem to be alot more cool and confident in his role as Albus Dumbledore in this film and while the acting is let down a little bit by the films more newer actors that's not a knock them as there acting is still really good it's just that the acting from the experienced Harry Potter actors is alot more better then there acting is with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Framestore CFC , Moving Picture Company , Double Negative , Cinesite , BUF , Rising Sun Pictures , The Orphanage , Animal Logic and Gentle Giant Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very fil was in all honesty really good which much like the quality of this films acting is nothing that's really all that new for these films as these films have always had some really high quality CGI in them with the same thing also being true for this film as well as all of this films effects do look really good even for the time that they were made in and while yes granted some of this films effects do look a little bit more dated when compared to the effects of today when they get it right with this film they really do get it right with the dragon pit scene being the best sample of both good and bad effects as while the dragon itself can look a little bit more dated in some shots with that being more due to the fact tat the technology that effects teams have today they just didn't have back in 2004 to 2005 and yet all of the backgrounds and fire effects for that whole sequence do look really good with the lighting matching perfectly whenever the dragon does breathe fire and while yes the films backgrounds during that scene could look a little bit more better then what they do given the technology that they had available at the time they look really good with even the films opening act at the Quidditch World Cup which is a huge effects scene has lots of really good looking effects in it as well.

There is one major problem that the makers of this film wouldn't be able to fix and that's the fact that the scene with Hermione coming down the stairs in her stress is meant to be her big Cinderella type moment where everybody realizes just how stunning that she really is. While this scene does indeed work in the book it can't work in the film due to the fact that Emma Watson is herself a really stunning person and therefor we the audience already know that Hermione is this stunning character with the scene itself loosing all affect because of it and while most problems with this film could very easily be fixed by just re-writing the films script to improve upon them here you can't really do that as you'd have to go right back to pre-production on the first film and cast an entirely different actor to play the part as you can't really trim the scene down so that we don't see her coming down the stairs in the first place as it forms part of her and Ron dramatic plot arc for the film and you can't put her under heavy make up designed to make her look ugly as we've already seen in this film what she looks like out of the make up and we see that she's still this really stunning creature with perhaps the only thing that the makers of this cold have have perhaps down is just not show us her face and that's really it which even then kind of defeats the purpose of the scene itself as just as every one else is meant to be seeing her as this truly beautiful woman so are we the audience but due to how good looking that Emma Watson not only was but also still is it makes the scene feel pointless and like that that it was only included because of the fact that it was in the book however if the scene was instead about the fact that she's got this celebrity date then it could have worked but as it is it just doesn't work in this film.

While there are quite a few things that don't really work all that well in this film one of them is not the Triwizard Tournament itself. As the film does spend alot of time in not only telling us just how deadly that this tournament could be to all those that are chosen to enter it but it also shows us how deadly it is as well by showing the characters almost dieing on several occasions during at least one of the three tasks with really the only thing that doesn't really work about this aspect of the film being the fact that apart from Harry we don't get to see any of the other characters et cuts or bruises which yes is a rather small thing to bring up but at the same time tho it i also something that does help to make it feel like that all of the characters are in some form of danger as while the film doesn't show us how the other contestants win the first task which is fair enough they still could have showed them with cuts and bruises after it just to hit home just how physically demanding and punishing that that task was on their bodies but that is a very minor nitpick as the tournament as a whole was really done with there being some nice comedic moments at the start of each task which sort of serve as the calm before the storm with each of the three tasks being done really well with Harry in all three of them being tested both mentally and physically as well as we see him having to use his brains to try and not only work out what to do next but also in how to get out of this task alive and well but we also see him having to use brute strength alot of the time as well now while it is hard to say if the other contests had to do that during there alot of there tasks as the film really only focuses on Harry's part of all three tasks it is something that does go along way into making this tournament feel just as dangerous as the film keeps on telling us that it really is in the first place.

This is the film does feature the official return of Lord Voldemort as while the character was featured in the first two films he always stopped from fully returning by Harry Potter himself. Where as here Harry does technically loose this film as Voldemort's plan to use some of Harry's bloody to resurrect himself is successful with the character getting a really creepy return where we see him quite literally grow into his clothes and we get to see his spine almost bend and snap into shape which is a small little thing but it is also something that does make him all the more creepier then what he already is in the first place and while he doesn't personally kill Cedric the fact that it happens and he just let's it happen even tho Cedric can't stop him just makes him out to be a really threatening villain however tho the same thing cannot be said for Barty Crouch Jr who is just a weak villain granted that might be the point as he is afterall meant to be Lord Voldemorts sidekick in this film there's still nothing to him as a character outside of the fact that he's outright crazy and that's it and heck the only thing that's even close to threatening that we see him do in this film is the fact that we see him threaten to have a spider drown herself while she's under a spell and that's it which yes is creepy but at the same time it's the only creepy thing that he does in the whole film and even then it's when he's under the disguise of another character as when he's in his normal body he doesn't do anything threatening other then have a crazy look on his face and yet you compare that to Voldemort who has this creepy look about him and he even forces Harry to bow to him before there duel which right there makes him more creepy as a villain as it shows us that he can control the main hero of the film as and when he chooses to in this film where as Barty doesn't do anything like that.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and thirty seven minuets and five seconds. Which to be fair to this film is pretty much the exact grand total running time for the rest of these films with this film just about having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place the only issue is tho it that this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the plot of the film isn't that well developed with it feeling like the makers of this film cared alot more about letting us know that the characters are now teenagers then they did about giving us a well more thought and well developed plot with it at times feeling like that the characters are just doing things for random reasons and not because of the fact the films plot demand that they do them with this not really effecting the films as thanks to the previous films alot of the films characters are really well developed with the same thing also being true for the characters that are introduced in this film as thanks to the film giving us alot more time to get to know these new characters we get to really care about them as people which is something that makes what happens to them in the film either all the more sad and upsetting or all the more happy as we'd had the chance to really get to know the with the only one who we don't really get the chance to spend alot of time with being none other then Cedric himself when he is the one character that we should have got more screen time with given the fact that he does end up dying in this film with his death being something that haunts Harry not only in this film but even at the start of the next film as well and while his death is still effective it would have been more effective if we got to know more about him as a character but I really admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho'

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of really fun filled action scenes in it alot of which do double up as tasks from the Triwizard Tournament itself which is something that does make alot of sense as we do get to see all three of the tasks take place and therefor having all three of them basically pull double duty and be one of the films action scenes does work well as all three of the films tasks have either some really exciting action happen in them or have some really good tension in them however tho the film best action scene has to be the entire sequence in the graveyard as that scene is more storytelling and advancing the plot of the films as a whole then it is about giving us these really cool moments be it from seeing the resurrection of Lord Voldemort to Harry seeing visions of his dead parents there's so much story telling going on in that one scene that it really does make the whole film worth watching just for that one scene and while all of the action scenes in the film have alot of spectacle to them the one thing that they don't have is a lasting impact on the both the franchise as a whole and on the character of Harry Potter this is despite the fact that there a bunch of really good looking action scenes as all of this film action scenes are really well shot but it's only the graveyard scene that actually advances the plot of the franchise as a whole in there own right in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is a really good film but it's also a film that does have alot of flaws in it some of which can't be helped and others are ones that are completely avoidable but in saying that it could very well be argued that this a film is still enjoyable despite all of it's flaws as well with it being made crystal clear why alot of people really do like this film as there are alot of really good aspects to be found in this very film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well the boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Harry Potter fandom wiki page , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very film that I used in this very review being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very film with alot of them being better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
